The Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic has already started playing with his new teammates in his new club, Inter Milan after being offloaded from Manchester United.
At his 32 years of age he will have to start learning a new playing style as well as a new language in order to completely fit in the club where he will be spending the last few years of his career.
After playing 8 seasons at Old Trafford in Manchester United where he once was considered to be the best defender in the world, the coach of Inter Milan Walter Mazzarri believes that Vidic will be able to adjust to the new environment soon.
The Italian coach, Walter Mazzarri said: ‘’for him, I have started with a three-man defence to make him understand my concepts and my intentions. I want the guy to absorb my concepts, and then we will all be working on the back-four. Then, he is an expert; he will not take long to figure out the three-man defence, because it is easier than a defence of four, which has different mechanisms’’
With the departures of veteran players such as: Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, Louis van Gaal is trying to reinforce the defensive department of the squad as he has already signed the left-back Luke Shaw from Southampton and Manchester United is being linked with Stefan de Vrij from Feyernoord as the 22 year old Dutch centre-back is being viewed as a possible replacement of Nemanja Vidic.
Even though Stefan de Vrij isn’t as well-known as other high profile players, he has already made a name for himself at the international scene having represented Netherlands since the time he was performing in the youth team in 2007 and ever since then Vrij has been making appearances in the UEFA Euro 2012 as well as being featured in all of the matches for Netherlands during the recently concluded 2014 World Cup.
